80. Bush Haters

A couple things before I begin, if you don’t like Bush and can express your ideas coherently this is not directed at you. This is a blog on people who hate Bush simply because it is the cool thing to do. Also, my dad emailed me today asking for me to tone down the rampant swearing on this site. I’m going to continue to swear like a sailor (im sucha rebbbbbbel lolz), but for this blog I will refrain from cussing to prove to him that I can express myself without profanity.

I had a friend who went to a Green Day concert after the invasion of Iraq. He came home grinning like an idiot and I said “how was the show?” He replied with, “oh my God! So wicked! Everyone at the concert started screaming **** Bush, **** Bush at the command of the lead singer.” I giggled like a schoolgirl, “how was the music though?” He passively said “oh, it was good.” My Canadian friend had just became the very American Idiot the boys from Green Day didn’t want to be. Blind, ignorant hatred towards an individual who is a negative force in the universe is still blind, ignorant hatred. I find it kind of funny that the very voice in America (and the world) who tells us to question authority is the same voice that tells us not to question our hatred of George Bush.

After America invaded Afghanistan, Bush was a baller, he could do no wrong, no one cared that while hunting down the Taliban, American forces killed thousands of innocent people. Didn’t matter, whatever Bush did was right. I’ll even concede that I got all warm and fuzzy when “The Coalition of the Willing” were taking poops in Saddam’s personal toilets. It felt cool, because although I’m not American, I trusted Canada’s allies that what was going on was right. Then after things got bad in Iraq I realized that I was a part of the problem and began to view Bush skeptically, perhaps this occurred because the Iraq war took place during my teenage years, and as such how I viewed the world was changing rapidly.

Now, as the hatred of Bush continues to grow, I begin to worry that our ignorance has merely shifted political views. Most of my friends already hate John McCain merely because he is a member of the Republican party. How about instead of hating based on political affiliation, we listen to McCain’s policies before painting him with the same strokes we have with Bush. I’ll admit Bush has been a very weak President and much of what he has received in the way of criticism from the international community has been valid, however, if you hate merely because Green Day or Rage Against The Machine told you so, you’re really not viewing the world right.

There are a lot of Bush-Haters in Brazil (note the clever mustache to make it appear Bush is similar to Hitler).

I just see the protests against America and the Bush administration worldwide, but have yet to see one against North Korean policy. It could be far, far worse for America boys and girls, but as we approach the election in November I can only hope that people vote not based on political affiliation but on issues that are important to them. I mean if Anne Coulter is voting for Hillary over McCain, maybe a Green Day fan can vote McCain.

I did it pops.
